MIDI Map Studio

Load a Neural DSP MIDI mapping file to see, at a glance, which MIDI CC on each channel controls what — then drag squares to reassign or swap CCs, add channels for more room, and download a new mapping file to load back into the plugin. Or pick a plugin and build a map from scratch, dragging just the parameters you want onto the CCs you want. You can also pick your Stream Deck model and download a profile built from the same map. It all runs in your browser: your file is never uploaded.

How it works

  1. In your Neural DSP plugin, open the MIDI Mapping window and export the mapping file.
  2. Load it below. Each square is one of the 128 MIDI CCs on a channel, coloured by section; hover for the parameter.
  3. Drag to move a CC to a free slot, or onto another to swap. Add a channel for more CC space. Then download the edited file and load it back into the plugin.
  4. Building from scratch? Pick a Plugin to start an empty map, then drag its parameters from the Unused parameters list onto the CCs you want — or click a parameter to drop it on the next free CC. Hit × on a square (or drag it back to the list) to unmap it.
  5. Want it on your Stream Deck too? Under Design your deck, pick your model to see the standard layout on a grid shaped like your device, then drag keys to rearrange them across the keys and pages (or leave the standard layout). Then under Get your files, download the profile and import it in the Stream Deck app.
  6. Finally, under Names for MIDIRover, press Copy name map and paste it into any MIDIRover key’s Name map box. Its dropdowns then read Drive instead of CC 22 — on every key, not just the ones in this profile.

Private by design — the file is parsed in your browser and never sent anywhere.

Open this on a desktop to build a map

The editor works by dragging squares around a 128-CC grid, and it needs the mapping file your Neural DSP plugin exports — which lives on the computer running the plugin. Both want more room and a mouse than a phone can give.

How to edit

Drag a square to a free cell to move it, or onto another to swap (conflicts can't happen). Drag a parameter from Unused parameters onto a free cell to map it — or click it to drop it on the next free CC; hit × on a square (or drag it back to the list) to unmap it. Prefer the keyboard? Tab to a square, press Enter to pick it up, then Enter on the destination cell to move or swap — Escape cancels. Remove a channel once it's empty. Renumber a channel from the dropdown in its header — all its mappings move with it (you can't pick a number already in use). Channel numbers match your plugin (the file itself counts channels from 0, so the Studio shows them +1).

Design your deck — optional

Pick your Stream Deck model — that sets the grid shape — then drag keys to rearrange them across the keys and pages. Add, delete or reorder pages as you like. The profile you download at the bottom uses exactly what you arrange here (or leave the standard layout).

The profile is a starting point. A mapping file says which parameter a control drives, but not always how it should behave — so for a few kinds of routing MIDIRover picks a sensible default rather than guessing silently. Continuous controls become a Sweep key, on/off controls a Toggle, and up/down pairs two keys marked and+. Note-based and preset-recall routings are the least certain, because the file doesn't record the mode they expect. Everything is a normal MIDIRover key once imported, so you can change any of it in the Stream Deck app — nothing here is locked in.

Names for MIDIRover

Your map already knows which CC drives which parameter. MIDIRover can show those names in its own dropdowns instead of bare CC numbers — Drive rather than CC 22. Copy the block below, then in any MIDIRover key open Name map, paste it and pressImport. It only adds names: nothing about what your keys send changes, and names you already have that this map does not mention are left alone.

Parameter names

The mapping file stores internal parameter IDs, not names, so the Studio shows a real name ("Input Gain") only where a plugin reference supplies one; otherwise it shows "Parameter #N" with the section it belongs to. The Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ reference is filled in by hand — see the Neural DSP guide for the setup, and more plugins will be added over time.
